The dust has finally settled after another season of almost for Spurs. Despite finishing with a record number of Premiership points, the holy grail of Champions League football has yet again slipped through their fingers, albeit outside the top four this time, Spurs fans will feel they were so close but, so far. The same can be said for Benteke, who has the added bonus of a sensational first year in England, and looked genuinely unplayable as Markus Golden Jersey he kept Villa in the top division almost on his own. Which leads me on to David Villa. Any deal between 6-8m would represent decent value for Spains all-time top scorer and would add experience and goals that were lacking in Spurs top 4 challenge last season. AVB has clearly pushed for the move himself so he can dedicate more time to coaching and Baldini looks to have got straight in to his duties. Spurs cannot compete with the big boys of European football in terms of financial muscle, so the obvious choice is to get them when the price is right. Tin Jedvaj and Alen Halilovic have apparently been lined up in a 17m double deal with Zagreb. Moves like this can be a risk of course, but Baldini signed Lamela from River Plate and Marquinhos from Corinthians and both have proved clever signings, and it is this sort of deal that clubs like Spurs must now look for. Yes, it may not work out, but people doubted Athletico Madrid when the paid 14m for an 18 year old Aguero and they ended up with 5 years of great service and over 20m in the bank profit when they sold him. As mentioned these deals can go wrong as well, but invest when they are young enough and there is always the chance to at least break even if things arent working out. Bernard fits into this category. The tricky young Brazilian looks to be on his way to Porto due to a 20-25m asking price, and the links between Athletic Miniero and Porto seems to strengthen their position at the front of the queue, but he could well be a risk worth taking.So there is hope for Spurs fans if some of the paper talk proves to be true. AVB has done an admirable job in his first season at the club, but the second season will really be the acid test. With a new look front line and the pre sure Antonio Hamilton Jersey for Bale to do it all on his own eased somewhat and a very solid midfield of Sandro, Dembele and Paulinho (with Holtby ready to step in) behind them, who knows what they could achieve.
